Summer is almost here, which means mango season, baby!
In my opinion, mangos don’t get used nearly as often as they should in recipes. We have a tutorial on how to cut a mango, so let this be your sign to switch up your salsa game and forget about tomatoes for a while. IT’S MANGO TIME BB and I’M HERE TO PARTY.
I love heading to the grocery store and finding 2/$1 mangos, then going home and making a big batch of this fresh mango salsa.
Ingredients in this amazing mango salsa recipe
This super fresh, easy mango salsa recipe uses gorgeous summer produce for a simple, yet delicious flavor combination you’ll fall in love with. Here’s your grocery list:
- Avocado
- Mango
- Red bell pepper
- Red onion
- Jalapeño
- Cilantro
- Fresh lime juice
- Salt & pepper
Easy ways to customize
Out of a few ingredients? Here are some simple swaps and add-ins that will still be delicious in this mango salsa:
- Fruit swap: try adding some pineapple, peaches or even diced strawberries for a fun twist on the flavors.
- Kick up the heat: love a little spice? Leave the seeds in your jalapeno or dice a habanero for an extra kick!
- Go veggie-heavy: change up your veggie produce with some fresh tomatoes or even some sweet corn.
Fresh mango salsa in 3 easy steps
Making mango salsa is easy. All you have to do is chop a few ingredients then add them to a bowl, stir and grab some chips for dipping!
- Chop your produce. Use one of these methods for easily cutting your mango, this one for perfectly cutting an avocado, and this one for your red onion. Easy!
- Mix your ingredients. Stir in diced red pepper and some fresh chopped cilantro.
- Add some flavor. You’ll also want to add a squeeze of fresh lime juice, plus salt and pepper. Taste and adjust seasonings as necessary. YUM!
Don’t forget this tip when making fruit salsa
My #1 tip when making a fresh fruit salsa is to be sure that your produce isn’t overly ripe. Super ripe mango and avocado will easily break and become mushy in the salsa, so opt for fruit with some firmness to it.
Our favorite ways to serve it
Personally, I love to dip tortilla chips in this salsa, but there are plenty of other ways to use it too! You can top grilled chicken, salmon, burrito bowls, grain bowls, mix in with quinoa or even use it on top of salads. Here are some of our favorite recipes that pair perfectly with this mango salsa:
- Blackened Salmon Tacos with Forbidden Rice & Mango Guacamole
- One Pan Caribbean Jerk Chicken
- Jerk Chicken with Caribbean Rice & Mango Salsa
- Firecracker Salmon
- 30 Minute Chili Maple Lime Salmon Bowls with Forbidden Rice
Storing tips
Store any leftover mango salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The lime juice helps the avocado stay nice and green!

Made this tonight & served it over grilled mahi mahi and rice. It was PHENOMENAL! My husband and I ate the whole batch. Definitely making it again!
That sounds amazing!! So glad you guys loved it!
I made this salsa to bring to a 4th of July party. It was so easy to make and DELICIOUS. We served it with Scoops Nachos which was great, so we could get a good mouthful with each chip. I added a bit extra avocado any lime juice to mine. Cannot wait to try this on salmon and fish tacos.
Also can’t wait to try the skinny watermelon jalepeno margarita 🙂
Love that! Perfect for summer 🙂
Delicious! Great in the fridge for several days. Yummy as a dressing on a taco salad!
Absolutely! The perfect taco companion 🙂
This is a great summer recipe. And this year I am growing my own jalapeño peppers, which makes me want to make this recipe even more often! I don’t always use the avocado (because it’s not always in my kitchen), but with (or without), this is a go-to recipe in my house. We often use on our grilled chicken. But my husband likes to just eat in by the spoonful (at least that’s what I catch him doing by the fridge)… keep your recipes coming. They never disappoint. Thank you!
Love that! Sounds delicious with grilled chicken (and by the spoonful 😉 ). So happy you’re finding recipes here that you love!
great with tacos and for party as a starter dip!
Isn’t it?! So happy you’re enjoying it 🙂

I made this salsa for my family last night to go on top of some chicken nachos and it was fantastic! We all really loved it, and I will definitely make it again!
Oooh that sounds like such a good meal! Happy you loved the salsa!
very nice recipe
I halved the red pepper and left out avocado , but followed the recipe with everything else and it was exceptionally delicious. We put it over baked haddock and there wasnt any left.
Amazing!! So glad you loved it, Anne 🙂 Thanks for leaving a review!
I make this recipe every summer when mangoes are on sale at the store and it’s a winner every time. Breath of fresh air, fun summer meal. Recipe is perfect as is,
This is my favorite mango salsa recipe I have ever tried. My husband loves it and will seriously put it on top of any meal, ha! I like the crunchiness of the bell peppers, red onions, and jalapenos. Extremely enjoyable.
Ahh that makes me so happy! So glad you both love it 🙂
I’ve made this salsa a few times….it’s delicious! I don’t alter the recipe other than maybe adjust the amount of mango, jalapeño, and avocado to my taste. Of course, the better the mango the better it will turn out. I’m lucky to have a friend with a great mango tree. I slice them and freeze them….the recipe is still delicious with the frozen. Sometimes the store bought mangoes are not so great….. if you find good ones, I suggest buying a few extra, slice and freeze…..in my opinion a frozen good one is much better than a so so fresh one.
So cool your friend has a mango tree!! Happy to hear you love this recipe, Janice 🙂
Served it with grilled salmon, Left out the jalapeño as we don’t like heat but added some strawberries.. this was really good, will certainly be making this again
My first time making Mango Salsa. It was amazing!! So fresh!!
Love this so much! Glad you’re enjoying this recipe, Steve!
Excellent salsa!! Added 3 mangos to my salsa plus added touch sweetness with about 1/4 c crushed pineapple. Thank you for the recipe ❣️Enjoyed it immensely ♥️
Ahh love this so much! Glad it turns out great for you and I love the addition of pineapple!
This is a favorite salsa, I added a bit of fresh cucumber peeled too, and fresh parsley, I microwave the onion in water for a couple minutes then drain well before adding to take the “bite” out of the onion. Make this one a lot. Had it with cod fish taco
WOO! I am so glad you’re loving this salsa and it turned out great for you, Frances!
Are you able to can the mango salsa with avocado?
I don’t think either would can well. So sorry!
These flavors are excellent. My go to mango salsa.
Fresh mango salsa over fish tacos = food heaven. Love this recipe! Thanks for sharing.
The best combo! Glad you loved it!
I made this for a small dinner gathering as a fresh side for hamburgers. I didn’t know my guests well at all so I was afraid I’d have to eat it all myself. They LOVED it and immediately asked for the recipe. I prepared it all about three hours before and wrapped it up tight and the avocado was perfection with all that lime juice. It was a little overripe as were my mangoes but it was delicious and didn’t get too soggy or slimy. It was even great the next day.
Amazing! So happy to hear that!
