Originally I started making these yogurt pancakes for my almost 1 year old as a way to get extra protein and calcium into his breakfast after he got sick of having eggs.
The truth is: I spent weeks perfecting this fluffy yogurt pancake recipe to get them to be perfectly fluffy and tender on the inside. I wanted them to be just as easy and delicious as my ever popular banana oatmeal pancakes and finally after many not so perfect attempts, I finally landed on a recipe I feel proud of: yogurt pancakes that are tender and fluffy on the inside.
The best part though? These oatmeal yogurt pancakes were happily welcomed by both my son and husband. I often add blueberries and then slather them with peanut butter for a little extra boost of deliciousness, and find them both gobbling them up. And good news: they’re perfect for freezing so you can enjoy them whenever you’d like!
Everything you’ll need to make yogurt pancakes
These easy greek yogurt pancakes come together right in your blend with just a few simple ingredients (busy morning win!) There’s no flour, just hearty oats. Here’s what you’ll need to make them:
- Whole milk greek yogurt: I like to use a plain or vanilla whole milk greek yogurt to add a delicious boost of protein to these pancakes and a dose of healthy fats. You can use whatever flavor of yogurt you’d like, but whole milk greek yogurt is best.
- Milk: you’ll also need a bit of milk to give the batter the right consistency. I typically use unsweetened almond milk, but you can use any milk you’d like.
- Egg: you’ll need one egg in these pancakes.
- Flavor: we’re sweetening these yogurt pancakes with just a bit of coconut sugar, and adding both vanilla and almond extract for an amazing, cookie-like flavor.
- Oats: the base of these pancakes is made with gluten free rolled oats to keep them perfectly thick and fluffy.
- Baking staples: remember to add a little baking powder and salt.
- Optional mix-ins: feel free to choose your favs! I love adding blueberries or chocolate chips.
How to make pancakes with yogurt (right in the blender!)
- Blend the batter. No bowl or whisk required! Add all of the wet and dry ingredients (except the mix-ins) to your blender and blend on high until the batter is smooth.
- Let it sit. That’s right, you’ll want to then let the batter sit in the blender! This is important as it will allow the batter to thicken for about 10 minutes.
- Cook, top & enjoy! Lastly, use the batter to make pancakes as you normally would! Get all of my tips and tricks for making the best pancakes here.
What makes these yogurt pancakes extra special
- They’re packed with protein. These yogurt pancakes have almost 15g of protein per serving, making them the perfect high protein pancakes without protein powder! A great post-workout breakfast that includes a complex carb, protein and healthy fat.
- They don’t need any oil. Because of the natural fats from whole milk yogurt, you won’t need any additional oils. Beware, if you don’t use a higher fat yogurt, your pancakes may come out gummy.
- The batter is made in the blender. This yogurt pancake recipe comes together in under 30 minutes for a quick, easy breakfast any day of the week. You’ll make the batter right in the blender for ease!
- These pancakes are great for both adults and kids. The quality ingredients make these a wonderful nutritious option, and fun to add toppings to. We love blueberries or chocolate chips!
The best yogurt for yogurt pancakes
To keep your pancakes nice, light and fluffy, I recommend using a whole milk greek yogurt. You can use flavored yogurt if you’d like, but it’s especially important to use a yogurt that has some fat content in it so that your pancakes don’t become gummy or dense. Trust me on this one!
Don’t forget toppings & mix-ins
What are pancakes without the yummy toppings and mix-ins? I love to fold fresh blueberries or chocolate chips right into the batter, and they’re extra delicious topped with:
- Fresh berries
- A dollop of yogurt
- Nut butter
- Chocolate chips
- Chopped nuts
- A drizzle of maple syrup
Make them ahead + keep the pancakes warm
Feel free to make these yogurt pancakes ahead of time and keep them warm in the oven! Simply place your oven at 200 degrees F, add your pancakes to a baking sheet or oven-safe plate, and place them in the oven until you’re ready to serve.
Pancake freezing tips
If you want to make these fluffy oatmeal yogurt pancakes ahead of time and serve them at a later date, you can place the pancakes on a baking sheet so they aren’t touching and place in the freezer for 30 minutes (this is called a flash freeze), then place them in freezer safe containers and freeze for up to 3 months. Once ready to reheat, simply add pancakes to a plate and microwave for 30-60 seconds or until warm.

125 Ridiculously Good For You, Sometimes Indulgent, and Absolutely Never Boring Recipes for Every Meal of the Day
Ingredients
- ½ cup whole milk greek yogurt (plain or vanilla)
- ½ cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or dairy free milk of choice)
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon coconut sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon almond extract
- 1 ¼ cup old fashioned rolled oats, gluten free if desired
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Optional mix-ins
- Blueberries or chocolate chips
- Butter or olive oil, for cooking
Instructions
- Add all of the ingredients (except optional mix-ins) to a blender and blend on high until completely smooth, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Let the batter sit in your blender for 10 minutes; this is important to allow the batter to thicken up properly, so please do not skip!
- After 10 minutes, lightly coat a griddle with butter or olive oil and place over medium heat. Once the pan is hot, add approximately 1/4 cup of the batter to the griddle for each pancake. Immediately add 5-6 blueberries or chocolate chips per pancake and cook for 2-4 minutes until pancakes slightly puff up and you see a few bubbles along the edges.
- Flip cakes and cook until golden brown on underside. If you find that pancakes are browning too quickly then you need to lower the heat. I normally start on medium heat, then decrease to medium low later so that my pancakes don't burn. If at any point your griddle starts smoking or if your pancakes are quickly burning, it means your pan is too hot.
- Wipe skillet clean and repeat with more oil and remaining batter. Makes 6 pancakes total. Serves 2, 3 pancakes each.

I just made these for the first time and they are delicious! I topped them with a little butter and a dusting of powdered sugar and cinnamon (truly just a tiny, tiny dusting – they’re very tasty as is). I’ll definitely make them again (maybe with chocolate!). The shop was out of whole milk Greek yogurt (small town life) so I had to use fat free and they were a tiny bit gummy. No surprise that Monique knows what she’s talking about! Next time I’ll use whole milk yogurt if I can find it, but I still enjoyed them immensely.

I want to make these so bad but noticed the note about the yogurt and it having to have fat in it. Were lactose intolerant here so I use lactose free Greek yogurt, which unfortunately has no fat 🙁 is there another option I can use?
Try adding in a 1 tablespoon of olive oil or melted butter to the batter 🙂
I’m always looking for high protein meals to feed my insatiable two sons and one daughter. This is delicious! Our favorite pancakes have always been your banana oatmeal ones (with natural PB and chocolate chips mwahaha!) but these are equally delicious. Might have to try some cinnamon next time. I did add 1/2 scoop per batch of collagen powder (see: ravenous kids, and I always make 2-4 batches of things at a time) and it turned out great. Mmmm!

The flavor of these is amazing, I think it has to do with the almond extract. My batter was a little too thin, even after sitting 15 minutes. I added a few tablespoons of flour to get to the consistency of my liking, but I am sure more oats could have been blended in with the same result.
The almond extract makes a big difference! And hmmm, it should be nice and fluffy but let me know if you try with more oats.
These were delicious! One question: if I wanted to bump up the protein by adding 2 scoops protein powder (figuring 1 scoop per person/serving), would that change the volume of wet ingredients?
Great question, I’d say it really depends on the protein powder. I’m also thinking that it may severely alter the flavor and texture. Maybe start with 1 scoop and see what it tastes like and how the texture comes out then you can adjust as needed! 🙂

I am also diabetic – formerly gestational. We chose to skip the coconut sugar altogether. It has no nutritional value beyond sweetening and the pancakes were still yummy. We added a tbsp of maple syrup on top – a carbohydrate equivalent to coconut sugar that also contains important minerals (unlike coconut sugar!).

Really tasty and kid friendly. I used half the amount of almond extract and it was enough for our taste. Also used soy milk because it was what we had. Definitely will make them again but I’ll double to recipe.

I flash freeze these and then heat them up during the week for breakfast! They are phenomenal!! Only change I make to the recipe is I add 8-10 blueberries so I get one in every bite.

This recipe is SO DANG GOOD! I can’t explain how it why, but they have a traditional pancake taste with none of the “bad ingredients”. My 1 year old loves them and my pregnant body CRAVES them! Do yourself a favor; make a double batch, and Freese the rest for toaster pancakes every morning!

SO YUMMY AND EASY! I recently bought a Vitamix and have been eager to try blender recipes. The oats ground up so smoothly to make a nice batter. This were fantastic! So much so, I made them 4 mornings in a row! Super simple to make because all the ingredients gets thrown into a blender. I would say the the key really is to let them sit for a bit before cooking. The batter thickens up and they become super fluffy.

I LOVE the banana pancake recipe, and make them often for my 16 month old son. I was excited to try these! I used less almond extract than the recipe called for because I know it’s a strong flavor. It was still too much. My son liked them. But it was too overwhelming of a flavor for these. I will try them again and omit the almond extract and see if I like it better!

These pancakes are AMAZING. Super fluffy, crazy easy to make, and my 1 year old loves them! I make with Wallaby no sugar added whole milk Greek yogurt (vanilla chai flavor is our fave!) so they’re super healthy. Makes a big batch and reheats really well. Used them for breakfast and morning snack for a week!
Just made these and absolutely loved them! Would def not leave out the sugar (I did cos I didn’t have any!) and think they could’ve done with a sweet taste added to them.
Tried this recipe and my pancake batter was soooooo thick it was more like muffin or bread dough. Even added more milk and water to try and get a slightly runny consistency but they just were not coming out right. I used 5% milkfat whole milk Greek yogurt – was that too much fat for this recipe? Would love to try and make them again!
Hmmm, you may need to add a splash more milk — perhaps 2 tablespoons. I don’t think the yogurt would have been the issue though! You can also use oat flour in this recipe instead — 1 cup of oat flour is perfect!
These pancakes are so dang delicious. I add a little extra vanilla/almond extract and blueberries.
I’ve never really been a pancake person, but when my daughter started eating solids I wanted to find healthy pancakes that I felt good about feeding her. So grateful for AK and all of her healthy pancake recipes. This one is my favorite so far! Such good flavor and texture. Her healthy pumpkin pancakes are also amazing. All of her pancake recipes have done great in the waffle maker too.
Delicious recipe!!! I was accidentally a little heavy handed on the almond extract, but that just gave the pancakes a little extra flair of flavor, which was pleasantly nice. I will definitely make these again! I think I found my new go-to pancake recipe.

Monique does it again with another bomb recipe. I made these pancakes last weekend and then again this weekend because they are just THAT good. This mix is so easy to make – just throw it all in the blender. And I love that it’s healthy ingredients so I don’t feel like I’m indulging too much. It’s perfect portion for two people. Don’t skip the step where you let the batter sit! The excitement to eat them is real, but patience is key I found out. I waited just barely 10 minutes the first time and they were a tad thin (still yummy!) and this second time I waited probably more like 10-15 and they were much fluffier. Added blueberries both times which works lovely with the slight almond flavor from the almond extract. This pancake recipe is a keeper.

Made these in the shape of hearts for Valentine’s Day! Love the flavor with the oats and almond extract. Mine were not very fluffy, but I may have needed to wait even longer between blending and baking. My husbands mind was blown that they had no flour in them!!!

Love these pancakes! The first time I made them I used 1%milk and 1Tbsp of white sugar because that was all I had and they were good. Today, I made them again and used unsweetened almond milk and coconut sugar (like the recipe suggests) and it was even better! I don’t like to substitute unless I am out of something and have no choice. This recipe is perfect! My new favorite pancakes. I put blueberries in them and topped with some raspberries and they were delicious!

I’m not sure what happened. I followed the recipe exactly (except I doubled it) and it turned into concrete in the blender. I could turn the blender upside down and the batter wouldn’t budge. Would doubling have caused this?
It could be, or just the fact that you need a little more liquid. Also can depend on which brand of yogurt you use, as the consistencies can really differ. Feel free to add more milk next time if necessary! Don’t be afraid to play around.
As soon as I saw this posted on IG I made a batch for the work week. They are awesome. I reheat them in the morning for an easy breakfast. I made some small changes because I am challenged with a frying pan. I bake mine at 350 for 5 mins a side on parchment paper. I also use brown sugar, less than a table spoon in my batter. I make a double batch and I get about 20 pancakes using an ice cream scooper to measure it out. I love the ingredients in this recipe. It’s everything I already have in my kitchen. A few times I used steel cut oats because I didn’t have the rolled oats on hand and it also came out delicious. Thank you!!!

These pancakes were so amazing and easy!! My little one loved them(I left out the sugar) and my husband tried one so I made some “grown up” ones with sugar and chocolate chips. I made plenty for leftovers so we can have for breakfast or snack in the coming week. Omg these are amazing. For the topping I made a cherry compote with frozen sweet cherries, almond extract and vanilla extract, along with maple syrup. My fiancé said they reminded him of shortcake and I agree, that’s exactly how I’d describe the flavor. Next time I’m going to make them with a strawberry compote and coconut whip! These pancakes are so delicious and healthy! I make them once a week- my husband and baby love them too! The almond extract adds such a unique flavor. The only thing is mine don’t get fluffy. I’ve double checked he expiration date on my baking powder and tried out a few different types of oats to see if it made a difference. I still LOVE them though!
So glad you liked them! Hmmm strange. What is the consistency of yours? They should puff up very nice. Also, try a new baking powder. Even if it hasn’t expired, it could be no longer working as well!
I left out the sugar and almond extract but they were still very tasty. So fluffy!

I made this for my one year daughter and she loved them. I didn’t personally do baby lead weaning so I was little late to introducing foods like pancakes, but this was a winner. The recipe made 6 good sized pancakes so I will also be eating with my breakfast of egg muffin and fruit. Extra protein is always a plus. I have made your meatball recipes, and they have all been delciious.

These pancakes are my absolute favourite, I make them every weekend! Definitely recommend leaving the batter for the 10 minutes as suggested, as they come out much thicker and fluffier! They are still super moist and delicious. I add some cinnamon to my batter for a little extra flavour.

I have been making these every other morning for months and realized I needed to let you and the world know they are the most incredible pancakes ever! My husband loves them and now it is the only pancake recipe I will ever use! Sometimes I mix it up and throw a scoop of vanilla protein powder in there but it changes the consistency a bit. Original recipe is best! These pancakes are fantastic for snacking on as well! I grab one every time I pads the fridge haha! Thank you Monique! Made as written except I used regular milk instead of almond milk. The almond extract was too much for me, so I’ll omit that next time, but the texture and consistency was spot on. Will make again.

What could have made the batter not thicken, the pancakes not get fluffy? I did do the recipe verbatim and let it sit for 10 minutes, regardless they were tasty!
it could have depended on what type of yogurt you used. Was it greek yogurt? It should have been thick! Otherwise if it doesn’t thicken up just add a little more oats!
These pancakes were delicious! Made them this morning for me and the kids. I didn’t have coconut sugar so I subbed with maple syrup. The little bit of almond extract really comes out in the taste and I loved that!

These pancakes are fantastic!! As someone who eats primarily gluten free it’s awesome these are not made with flour. They are super easy to make and the results are fluffy, soft, super delicious pancakes. I make them every single week, changing the add ins if we want and topping them with other fruit as well. I will never make pancakes any other way, that’s how good these are.

Pancake are great!! I did find blending the oats before adding the other ingredients helped the pancakes have less texture which is what my kids liked. I also froze the extras and they reheated beautifully!

These were quick and easy to make! love putting everything into the blender and then after ten minutes of letting it sit, it’s ready to go! the only thing for me is next time I would do without the almond extract. That may be a personal preference!

I have made these several times and they are delish, simple, and nutritious! I like to slater mine with PB and maple syrup for a filling weekend brunch or even dinner with the gal pals on bach night. Highly recommend, I do mine in a nutribullet or a food processor and it works equally well in both.

I absolutely love this recipe. I make it almost every Sunday after a long run. I love adjusting the toppings / flavors depending on the season. Today, I added half of an apple and cinnamon to the batter and then added more diced apple pieces and walnuts as toppings. This recipe always hits the spot!
The BEST healthy pancake recipe ever. So fluffy and flavorful, and easy to quickly whip up. My baby is a very picky eater and carb lover, and these are the perfect healthy alternative. I make a batch to keep in the fridge/freezer and heat them up in the toaster for a quick weekday breakfast for both of us.

Excellent pancakes. Only thing I would add is 1/4 tsp of baking soda to help it brown better in the pan, but superb fluffy pancakes overall!

I found the batter quite dense on first cake so i added a bit more milk and stirred it in , then they turned out perfect,. do give it another try.
i also blended the oats first , to a flour then added rest of ing. , this also might help

I have never posted a food review. These pancakes are better than regular pancakes! Amazing!!! The only modification I made was not adding an sugar and I used low fat vanilla yogurt. The texture and taste was chef’s kiss!!!!

These are the most fluffiest pancakes I’ve found! Taste better than original pancakes. I left out coconut sugar and almond extract as I didn’t have on hand and they came out beautifully 👌 topped with some sugar free maple syrup, these were a hit!

Hi, Bernice! Yes I think it should be fine as long as it has some fat content in it so that your pancakes don’t become gummy or dense.

used only vanilla extract [ 2 tsp ] and no add ins , Ate plain for me, and with fresh fruit for husband .

Wow, this pancake receipt looks so yummy. Definitely going to give it a try.
This was so delicious! Instead of sugar I added a whole banana for these two servings. The pancakes were super brown (which makes sense considering the banana). Second time around I made half this recipe and added nutmeg + cinnamon and crushed pecans on top of the batter. Used honey in place of syrup.
Overall I could taste a lot of baking soda (but i actually love the taste). Would recommend trying a little less than what’s recommended. The pancakes also aren’t as fluffy as in the picture for me BUT they did fluff up a little while cooking and then looked kinda flat after.
In my humble opinion these pancakes are DELICIOUS and I plan to continue playing around with batter consistency and how much I pour into the pan/how I cook them. Love that it’s also so low in calories and that it’s all fairly clean eating.

Oh. My. Holy. Pancake. These are SO GOOD. I don’t want to be dramatic but these are probably the best pancakes I’ve ever made. Incredibly thick and fluffy and so delicious- I would eat them plain for a snack to go! So so amazing.
This is seriously the best healthy pancake recipe I’ve ever experienced. My kids DEVOUR these..more so than traditional pancakes. They’re filling, I know they’re getting some good nutrition, and just incredibly delicious. A+!!

I made these with Greek whole yogurt and maybe that’s where it went wrong, but horrible taste! The first batch was super flat but that’s expected sometimes when making pancakes, the second batch was very fluffy and that was nice, but horrible flavour. Had to throw them out
Hi, Kelle. So sorry they didn’t turn out well for you! I use whole milk greek yogurt, so I don’t think that was the issue. Did you change anything about the recipe? Perhaps you used baking soda instead of powder? They should be fluffy and they should taste like normal pancakes!
These are my favourite pancakes I’ve made. They taste great and feel more satisfying then flour-based pancakes. Actually kept me full. Sweet enough that you don’t need syrup on them. SO good – whole family loved!

Absolutely delicious, Made exactly per the recipe with skim milk (what I had on hand) and 6 blueberries per pancake, plus extra blueberries on top for serving. Next time I’ll try raspberries and perhaps some nuts on top to mix it up. Bought full fat yogurt for the purpose of this recipe and boy was it worth it! My husband and I licked our plates clean. This has been added to the weekend breakfast rotation. Ive always been a waffles >> pancakes kind of person, but this recipe may change my mind. Thank you!!

I’ve tried quite a few gluten free, healthier pancake recipes and this is by far the best. I have an egg allergy so subbed with a flax egg, and they came out fantastic! Mixed in blueberries and topped with some chia and hemp seeds (and maple syrup of course). Will be a weekly staple.

Tried these with lemon extract instead of vanilla with the almond extract then added fruit, omg it was so good with the hint of lemon and fruit. Will definitely be making these again.
Made this with my 3 year old, subbing dairy milk for non-dairy since that’s what I had on hand. By far THE BEST oatmeal pancake blender recipe I have tried. Monique is right – amazingly the full fat yogurt prevents these from being gummy! We added blueberries and there are none left. A very happy Saturday morning indeed – thank you!!!! A keeper for sure!

I’m actually shocked at how great these turned out! The texture is very similar to regular pancakes and taste is delicious. You do get a little bit of yogurt tang on the first bite, so if you really don’t like yogurt that might turn you off. But for me I’ll definitely make them again as a pancake with lots of protein and fiber. Great pregnancy recipe!

These pancakes deserve 10 stars. They are light,fluffy and absolutely delicious.
The only suggestion I’d make is to pour the batter into a bowl after blending and then wait the 10 minutes.

Absolutely LOVE this recipe. I make them for myself and my toddler at least once a week. They are super quick to make and are delicious. One time I ran out of oats so I used a mixture of oats and oat flour which gave a smoother, lighter texture that I really enjoyed – so that’s how we make them now!

My family is not a pancake family. We’ve always been waffles people and have never cared for the taste or texture of pancakes. These pancakes, though. Have converted my family. I went looking for healthy breakfast recipes, found this, and decided it was time to give pancakes another chance. And boy am I glad I did. We make these almost weekly now. Love the taste. That almond extract takes it to another level. And the yogurt. And the oats. Can’t even taste the oats! No flour and doesn’t even taste like it’s healthy for you. Needless to say, this is a keeper. I’d really like to make these for my son but he doesn’t eat dairy besides butter. Could I use a coconut based yogurt that has 11g of fat in the container? Just wondering if that’s enough fat to make it work. Thanks!

This recipe is awesome. I’ve made it probably 10 times now. I use cottage cheese instead of yogurt sometimes and always raw whole milk. I usually store half of it in the fridge for the next morning and it is still really yummy the next day, especially if you put syrup on right away instead of waiting til you eat it. Two thumbs up
Super good! Made them for my toddler but then had one for breakfast myself! I just subbed a really ripe banana for the sugar and almond extract and turned out great! They also brown up really well while cooking like a normal pancake unlike some other non-traditional pancake recipes I’ve tried. Definitely in the breakfast rotation!

These are the BEST gluten free pancakes!! I used cashew yogurt as a dairy-free alternative and brown sugar instead of coconut sugar – they came out great! Highly recommend if on a gluten free diet; because the recipe calls for oats, the pancakes don’t have that yucky gluten free flour taste. Healthy and filling too!

These were the best start from scratch protein pancakes I’ve tried. I used monkfruit/erythritol instead of coconut sugar as I needed to have less sugar, however, they were still amazing. A keeper.
I evaluated the pancakes and there were 56 carb grams not including the coconut sugar, however with the added protein of 15 grams and the healthy carbohydrate value, it is still excellent nutritionally!
Wow this was a great recipe!! I am trying to work on a higher protein lifestyle without having to add protein powders. This was tasty, not too sweet, and easy to make small adjustments! I did make 2 MASSIVE pancakes with this recipe instead of 6 as I am trying to eat it by myself so they were hard to flip over, my fault. 😅 Next time I’ll make them 3 large pancakes instead. I added Blueberries and just wow, no syrup even needed.

great recipe! i used gluten free flour instead of oat flour, brown sugar instead of coconut, and 2.5tsp vanilla (and no almond essence), as those are just my preferences. the pancakes were thick and super fluffy, cooked right through with no problem. there was no gumminess, no undercooked middle, no yoghurt flavour
i also used beaters instead of a blender and it worked wonderfully

As a nursing mama, these pancakes start the day off just right! I served mine up with a little maple syrup, ricotta & fresh berries. Dreamy! The flash freeze method works great, too! I just reheated the last of my frozen batch in the oven on a baking sheet covered with foil @ 375 for 12 minutes. Just as moist and delicious as they were the day they were made! Rockstar recipes. This is our go to pancake recipe. I love that it’s gluten free and has protein to fill all of us up for the morning. We always have to double the recipe because my 3 year old and 1 year old eat so many! We love to add blueberries and/or chocolate chips.
These are SO good and SO easy! I have substituted flax egg and coconut yogurt and they turned out just as great.

these were so easy to make and they were BOMB! my husband devoured them – soooooo good!!!! (i left out the almond extract bc i hate almond extract, I used raw milk instead of almond milk)

Love these! Did not have almond extract, used some ground almond instead ( only a small amount). Used coconut milk and about half the baking powder suggested. Worked a treat and very delicious. Thank you so much for this recipe. 🙂
