I made this for my book club and everyone LOVED it. The brown butter icing is delectable. I will say that I did add a dash of cloves to the batter because I’m partial to it.

Excellent recipe!!! I brought it to a get together with friends and not a crumb was left! I love that the apple cake base is more like a dense apple bread – not too sweet but then the salted brown butter cream cheese totally ups it to a dessert level! The brown butter step of the icing is crucial—adds some time but totally worth it!

oh my goodness! This was absolutely delicious! I made it with gluten-free all purpose, flour, and Fuji apples because that’s what I had on my tree. my family agrees that this is a keeper! we loved it!❤️

This was a fantastic recipe! I did use flax eggs and the cake turned out perfectly. The cake itself is delicious on its own and a great snack for my kids. The frosting, though. Wow!

People will say I’m being dramatic but I assure you I am not when I say this frosting is the BEST THING IVE EVER TASTED. Do not skip it! I followed the recipe as written (maybe cut the maple syrup to 1/3 cup) and it turned out great! Like a hybrid of a cake and a muffin. I made this for thanksgiving dinner dessert and it was a hit. Thank you!
