Ingredients in healthy chipotle ranch dressing
We’re taking traditional ranch dressing and lightening up, adding protein and a kick of heat. YUM. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Plain greek yogurt: instead of buttermilk (like traditional ranch dressing recipes) we’re using protein-packed greek yogurt to lighten up this chipotle ranch.
- Garlic powder: nothing beats a little kick of garlic in ranch.
- Onion powder: the secret ingredient for that authentic ranch flavor.
- Lemon juice: you’ll want to add a bit of acidity to balance the dressing. Feel free to use apple cider vinegar, too.
- Dried dill: you can use dried dill or freshly chopped chives in this chipotle ranch.
- Salt: to bring out the flavors in the dressing.
- Chipotle chili powder: I like using chili powder for ease, but feel free to sub a few dashes of chipotle hot sauce.
- Water: to thin the dressing a bit.

Love, love, love this. Four our family, 1/2 the amount of chipotle pepper though. Different brands can vary in spiciness. So yummy!
Very true – I would taste-as-you-go for the spiciness in here! Glad you guys loved it!
This is seriously delicious!! We prep rice bowls (cilantro lime rice, steak/chicken, veggies, black beans, and salsa) for weekly lunches and this is the PERFECT topper. Thank you!
That sounds amazing! Perfect dressing for those 🙂
Amazing! Thank you!
You bet!
Perfect as written-great spice and heat, delish as dip for oven baked zucchini fries.
Absolutely! LOVE using this as a dip.
Such a delightful take on ranch dressing.
I loved this! I made it and decided to let it sit for a couple of hours to let the flavors ~gel~ together and I think that made it much better! I put it on my fajitas and it made a rockin dip, too. It’s still slightly reminiscent of yogurt but it has more of a sour cream tang and additional spice. I cut the chili powder amount to 1/2tsp to suit my tolerance.Thank you!
Perfect! Love this one on so many different recipes. Glad you enjoyed!
Great healthy option. I use it with any Mexican dish. I suggest adding garlic and onion powder to taste. Also I never have dull, and it tastes great without it!
Love that idea!
Perfect amount of kick for my chicken wrap or for my southwest salad, and it’s much lower in fat and calories than other dressings. It is my new go to recipe.
So glad to hear you’re a fan, Jill!!
We were buying similar yogurt dip at our grocers for $4 8 oz container. This recipe is awesome and taste just the same as the store bought. Was lucky to find chipotle chili powder at The Market. We are eating this with Stacys pita chips. ❤️
Oh yay, glad that you’re enjoying it and that it’s saving you some $$! 🙂
Love it! Needed a healthier copycat of my fave salad places dressing. I used 1 can chipotle and a little liquid as I didn’t have the powder. I also used lime juice and a little allulose for tangy sweetness to try and match what I was looking for. No dill for me but threw in some chives. Thanks for the base!!! Just what I needed.
That was 1 canned chipotle pepper, not the whole can!!!!
Awesome, thank you for sharing! 🙂
Easy and yummy! I used cashew yogurt for dairy free.
Nice! Glad that worked well and that you enjoyed it, Marilyn!
Thank you for sharing the recipe. Made this didn’t have chipotle chili powder and I ended up putting few drops of cholula hot sauce it turned out perfect. I was looking for healthy version since I don’t eat mayo came across your recipe.
Sounds absolutely delicious, so glad it turned out great for you an you’re loving this recipe!
This was not like any chipotle ranch that I’ve had before, the dill really changes the flavor, maybe trying it again without that.
Sorry to hear that! Were you sure to add enough chili powder or chipotle hot sauce? Let me know if you like the flavor better after omitting the dill.
