While I was in Israel back in 2016, I consumed the most tahini I had ever had in my life. The hummus was one of the best things I’d ever eaten. Creamy, rich, and with a slight tang from the freshly ground tahini.
After eating tahini for over a week with various dishes like roasted pumpkin, bread, meatballs and more, I became addicted. I immediately started making tons of amazing, sweet and savory recipes using tahini, and gave myself the nickname of “Tahini Queenie.” The OG AK fam knows what’s up.
These famous tahini brownies are truly what started it all. They’re chewy, fudgy, perfectly sweet, and when I made them back in 2017 they became my absolute favorite brownies in the entire world. If you haven’t made them yet, this is your sign to give them a try! If they’re a staple in your house (like they are in mine) it’s time to throw in another batch.
Everything you’ll need to make the best tahini brownies
These amazing gluten free tahini brownies are seriously everything you could want in a brownie. Chewy, fudgy, and baked with those lovely, crackly tops. All while being grain free, dairy free and refined sugar free! Here’s what you’ll need to make them:
- Tahini: the star of the show in these brownies? Tahini! It gives the brownies moisture without needing any additional oil.
- Sweetener: we’re naturally sweetening these brownies with coconut sugar and pure maple syrup.
- Eggs: you’ll need 2 eggs to help the brownies bake up properly.
- Cocoa powder: be sure to use a high quality unsweetened cocoa powder for the ultimate fudgy flavor. Cacao powder will also work well.
- Coconut flour: you’ll just need a tablespoon of coconut flour to give them the right texture.
- Baking staples: don’t forget the vanilla extract, baking soda & salt. Learn how to make your own vanilla extract here!
- Chocolate: I love to mix chocolate chips into the batter and top the brownies with a chocolate drizzle! For the drizzle, you’ll need a little coconut oil.
Tahini brownie substitutions
As always (and especially for baking) I recommend following the recipe as is for the best results. Here are some ingredients we can and can’t recommend for substituting in these tahini brownies:
- For the tahini: a natural, drippy almond butter, cashew butter or sunflower seed butter should work, but tahini is your best option! We do not recommend peanut butter as it gets too dry.
- For the coconut sugar: feel free to use brown sugar instead. Learn how to make your own here! I actually prefer to use brown sugar in this recipe for a fudgier brownie!
- To make dairy free: be sure to use dairy free chocolate chips like this brand.
- To make vegan: use two flax eggs in place of the regular eggs. Learn how to make flax eggs here!
- For the coconut flour: feel free to use oat flour or you can sub 2 tablespoons of almond flour.
Customize your tahini brownies
These brownies are also incredibly easy to make. If you’re looking for a dessert for a crowd and need something simple, just throw all the ingredients in one bowl and mix away. And if you’re feeling sassy, try some of these
- 1/2 cup dried cherries in the batter
- Fresh raspberries on top before baking, or a swirl of raspberry jam
- Chopped walnuts in the batter (even better if they are toasted first!)
- A swirl of tahini in the pan before baking
- Toasted sesame seeds or black sesame seeds on top
- A little sprinkle sea salt on top after they come out
The options are endless.
How to make one bowl tahini brownies
- Mix the wet ingredients. In a large bowl mix together the tahini, coconut sugar, maple syrup, vanilla & eggs until well combined.
- Add the dry. Fold in the cocoa powder, coconut flour, salt and baking soda until smooth, then fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour & bake. Spread the batter evenly into a baking pan, using a spatula to scrape it all in there. The batter will be thick! Then bake them up.
- Drizzle & devour. While the brownies are cooling, melt some chocolate chips with coconut oil. Drizzle this all over your brownies, then enjoy!
How to store & freeze tahini brownies
- To store: I’d recommend leaving them on the counter for no more than a day or two, and then storing the brownies covered in the refrigerator. They’re especially delicious straight from the fridge!
- To freeze: allow brownies to cool completely, then cut the brownies as directed. Wrap individual brownies in plastic wrap, then in foil or a reusable bag such as Stasher bags. Freeze for up to 3 months.

Grain Free Tahini Brownies (the best brownies I've ever eaten!)
Ingredients
- 1 cup tahini
- ½ cup coconut sugar (or brown sugar*)
- ¼ cup pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (or cacao powder)
- 1 tablespoon coconut flour, almond flour or oat flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ⅓ cup chocolate chips, dairy free if desired
- For the chocolate drizzle:
- 2 tablespoons chocolate chips, dairy free if desired
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, combine the tahini, coconut sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract and eggs until smooth and well combined. Gently fold in cocoa powder, coconut flour, salt and baking soda until batter is smooth. Fold in 1/3 cup chocolate chips into the batter. This batter should be rather thick.
- Spread batter evenly in prepared baking pan. If it's giving you trouble to spread (because it's on the thicker side), spray a rubber spatula with nonstick cooking spray (trust me, it helps!).
- Bake for 18-28 minutes or until knife inserted into the middle comes out with just a few crumbs attached. Do NOT overbake!
- After brownies have cooled a few minutes, prepared the chocolate drizzle: Place a small saucepan over low heat, add chocolate chips and coconut oil and stir frequently until melted and smooth. Generously drizzle over the brownies. Makes 16 brownies.

I ended up using almond flour…I don’t like the taste of coconut flour much and they turned out great! Maybe a smaller batch than the coconut would yield but still delicious.
These were delicious, and indeed fudgy as promised. I used Spelt Flour instead of coconut flour as a don’t like the texture of coconut flour. I also added finely chopped almonds and a dash of freshly brewed coffee to bring out the chocolate flavour. Thank you for a healthy baking recipe that actually works and tastes good!

I just made these with two flax eggs (each egg 1 tbsp flax meal and 2 tbsp water, rested for a couple hours) and chickpea flour instead of coconut flour, they turned out great!

These were amazing. At first I thought they’d be really tahini-ish because of the smell but I couldn’t taste the tahini! My boyfriend said they tasted like the dark chocolate brownies at Starbucks (a positive for him but I say they are way better!) I used sugar free dark chocolate chips and 🤤.

I made these with peanut butter last week turned out drier than tahini brownies, but I let it sit on the counter in airtight container(after completely cooling) overnight and somehow were chewy and not at all dry the next day. I was out of tahini so used smooth pb, but only had about 1/2 cup, so used crunchy pb for the rest. the peanut bits somehow floated to the top during baking – not sure how/what that’s about but I liked the look/taste. also sprinkled salt flakes before popping them in the oven (none in batter) and they came out really delicous (and pretty presentation).

What is the difference between tahini and sunflower seed butter?
Hi Cathi! Tahini is actually made with sesame seeds rather than sunflower seeds, but they have a similar consistency.

For Some reason the Tahini mixture coagulated n thickened wen contacted with eggs, making it difficult to mix. Mine was roasted sesame tahini, could that b the reason. I am gonna try again next time blending rest of ingredients with the eggs and then folding with tahini+cocoa+coconut powder mixture.

Oh mah gahhh, these are incredible! I just made these for a healthier weekend treat my boyfriend and I could enjoy, and holy moly, we are both obsessed! They’re so fudgy and decadent, just as brownies should be! My mom had recently brought me back lots of tahini from Lebanon, where we’re from (and where she lives, so I totally shared a mom-visit with you!), and this recipe might beat hummus in terms of what I’ll use the tahini for 😉

The flax eggs work beautifully as a sub. In fact, I actually prefer them with flax eggs because they’re a bit fudgier. They’ve been a bit drier when we used eggs. I’ve also used the recipe as a bottom layer for a dairy free ice cream cake. Soooo delicious.

They were amazing and were devoured immediately but I don’t know what happened when I baked them I took them out after 15 min because the top started to burn so I thought they were done but when I cut them it all fell apart. Still tasted amazing but I couldn’t really cut them up in squares. Any advice?
Sounds like they weren’t done well enough if they weren’t cut. Also I’m not sure why they would burn unless you added the melted chocolate on top before baking?? Or perhaps you changed a few ingredients?

I don’t bake with sugar substitutes like stevia, so I’m not 100% sure! I think stevia has a specific kind for baking that might work.

Made these for a potluck and they were a hit! I used oat flour since I didn’t have any coconut flour. Flavor was great, but I overbaked them by a few minutes and they got dry and crumbly. I will definitely be trying them again with less baking time!!!

I’ve made these several times and they are absolutely delicious! I just wanted to comment that I use cacao powder instead of cocoa to make it more healthy and they are wonderful. Instead of the drizzle, I just throw the dark chocolate chips right into the batter. No one has ever noticed that they are “healthy” brownies! Thank you for the recipe!!

These are so so SO good! I was too impatient and didn’t let them cool long enough before turning them out of the pan so the bottom kind of separated from the top. Nevertheless, still delicious and ooey gooey! Next time I’ll definitely need to be more patient or line the pan with parchment. Next time likely being tomorrow because I’m HOOKED!

I’ve been trying to keep my diet low carb & free of refined sugars, but definitely miss things like cake & brownies. These were perfect! I used Lily’s chocolate chips so I have zero guilt & I don’t feel icky afterwards. Big time bonus – my picky 7 year old loved them! He actually moaned while eating them! What a great idea to use tahini like this. I thought tahini would over-power but doesn’t. I had to substitute maple syrup for honey and coconut sugar for organic brown sugar. Unfortunately I baked them in a smaller oven for 23 min and I over-baked them :(. They just cooked faster because of the oven size (cuisinart pizza / convection / toaster oven). I think 18 min would have been perfect. I’ll try again.
The tahini is super subtle in here and bakes really well! Sorry to hear that your smaller oven caused some over-baking, I hope these turned out for you the second time around!
I made these and they were amazing but the chocolate chips are melted but they don’t look smooth when you cut them. I’m assuming the chocolate chips are supposed to be like chunks??

I have also made them with a homemade “sunflower tahini” and it was a hit, I think I may be leaning for the true sesame tahini version, of course I will have to do extensive testing first . 🙂

I just made these and wow was I surprised! They were absolutely delicious and fudgy. I was very skeptical, but these are my go to brownies now. The only difference for regular brownies I they weren’t super crackly on top, but otherwise no one would ever know that they’re healthy.

Hello! Just a question about the recipe… I’m super excited to make this (a friend recommended this to me!) and will be baking these at some point this week, but are these safe to give to someone with a nut allergy? I just wanted to check before offering any to my brother after I make these. As far as I’m aware he doesn’t have an allergy to sesame seeds, but I wanted to check to make sure 🙂 Thank you, and looking forward to making these!!

My husband is allergic to nuts and he had no problem with these—that being said, he eats hummus all the time and that’s how we knew it was fine. He is allergic to fresh coconuts, and I didn’t want to risk it with even a baked coconut product, so I switched out those ingrediants. At least some people with nut allergies include coconut in that. I second asking the person because allergies are super weird/individual. Hope this helps someone!

Can I replace the coconut sugar with maple syrup?
Absolutely fabulous brownies! I made them as a birthday surprise treat for my sister visiting from California. I used cacao powder instead of cocoa (don’t really know the difference) and made 2 batches of brownies. I learned on the first batch that sifting the cacao first would be a good idea as it was a challenge to incorporate. But hands down DELICIOUS!

So, I made the vegan version if these with 2 flax eggs and I aslo used cacao powder instead. They are absolutely amazing. Fudgy, rich, crispy on the outside, nutty, just great. Thank you so much for the recipe!

I made these with brown sugar, agave syrup, and whole wheat pastry flour (with about a teaspoon of chia seeds because Monique mentioned somewhere in the comments that the coconut flour absorbs moisture). I didn’t do the glaze and added the extra chocolate chips into the mix instead. The flavor was great and I really enjoyed these as a cake…maybe it was the substitutions (?), but they just weren’t brownies.
Belle — thanks for your comment. You made several substitutions to the recipe and then rated them as if you had made the original, which I think is a bit unfair. Totally understand about potential allergies and subs, but more than likely you changing the recipe is a result of them not turning out as you hoped.

Howdy! I made these brownies last week and they were so good! I used two “flax eggs” instead of real eggs and they still came out great. I made these with whole wheat flour instead of coconut flour and they turned out pretty cakey. That could also be because I think I baked them too long… I baked them for 25 minutes, but they would’ve been perfection around 21 minutes. I added a spoonful of chia seeds to absorb the extra water (mentioned in another comment), but I shouldn’t have because then they would’ve been gooier and fudgier I think. Anyway, more cake-like than brownie-like, but still good!
Hi Rachel! I wouldn’t suggest swapping the flours in this recipe because it does change the consistency (that’s why the brownies were more cake-like).
I’ve always made these with cassava flour instead of coconut flour, and although the texture is a bit more cake-like, they are still delicious. This is my go-to recipe when all other paleo desserts fail me! 😊

I used the Trader Joe’s brand of tahini and its thicker than yours so I left out the coconut flour and added about a TBSP of apple sauce and they came out great!

I live in Mexico and coconut flour and pure maple syrup aren’t really available, so I decided to experiment knowing it would be my (not Monique’s) fault if they failed haha!
I left out the maple syrup and coconut sugar, instead using about 3/4 cup of very loosely packed Mexican brown sugar (basically the same as regular brown sugar) as the sweetener. I like to grind my own nut flours, and all I had were pecans, so I thought sure, let’s try it.
1/4 cup of the nut flour instead of the 1 tbsp coconut flour.
OMG. Let’s just say I’m on my second batch this week! The ground pecans with the tahini…let’s just say the flavor is INSANE.
Be SURE not to overcook! I have a small oven so I check at 20 min to be safe.
Even with my wacky subs, they had the perfect fudgy (but not TOO fudgy, still had great structure) texture.
I’m so glad those swaps worked out! They’re the perfect treat (and I’ll have to add in some pecans next time).

I had never even heard of tahini. I went to the local Natural Foods Market and bought all the ingredients. My family was completely shocked with how delicious these brownies were. I first made these with raw tahini and the flavor was very intense, I would recommend using toasted tahini instead of raw. The second time I made them I used half cashew butter/half almond butter and WOW!!! They were absolutely delish. After they cooled and especially the next day there was no other unusual taste other than wonderful chocolate brownie. If you are put off by the tahini flavor, I highly recommend using cashew butter or a mixture of cashew/almond. It will taste exactly like a wonderful conventional brownie. I did add a tsp of chia seeds to up the nutrition and I also only use 1 tsp coconut flour. I did not add the chocolate chips in the batter, but lots of chopped toasted pecans. Thank you for a wonderful recipe, I will try toasted tahini when I get some, but for now I am grateful for you sharing this brownie base where other nut butters can be substituted. AMAZING!!

Delicious! I surprised my hubby with these for Valentine’s Day and his response was: “Best Brownies Ever!” 💗 I subbed cacao for cocoa and added a little more maple syrup because the batter tasted pretty salty (I used homemade tahini). Definitely a keeper!

hi! I just tried this recipe over the weekend and while it was great (thank you!) I had a few questions. I followed the recipe exactly and came out with a brownie that was a bit more cake-like in consistency, not the fudgy kind. is that to be expected? I also noticed a slight gritty consistency and can definitely taste the tahini (especially the after taste). is there something I possibly did wrong or is this how the brownie is supposed to taste/be like? thank you!!
hi! these brownies should definitely be fudgy and not gritty at all. My biggest tip is to make sure you are using a drippy tahini, not a paste. also, it helps if you slightly underbake these! I would suggest trying again with new tahini!

These are so good! I didn’t have as much tahini as I thought I did.. so I used cashew butter (equally drippy) to get to the full cup. 20 minutes was good, I might try an even shorter amount of time for my next batch to get it a bit more fudgy. The brownies are FILLING in a way that treats normally are not. The batter itself was so yummy, I had trouble convincing myself to actually put it all in the pan to bake it 😉 thank you for such a delicious recipe!!

I’ve made this over and over again! Some variations have been doing half peanut butter and half tahini, adding ground up coffee, and subbing in almond flour instead of coconut. These are fudgy and perfect! Honestly I like these better than your standard brownie. Yum!

I baked these and boy are they amazing!! I added walnuts to mine which was the perfect crunch. My problem was I didn’t have a typical brownie tray and used a smaller steeler one which made them bake for way longer and little crumbly but the taste oh wow amazing!

I made these this afternoon and they are awesome! The only substitution I made was to use 1/4 cup of applesauce in place of one of the eggs (only because when I went to make them I discovered I had only 1 egg).

I used honey instead of maple syrup and they still taste AMAZING. I’d say the flavor is a bit more “deep/bitter” like a dark chocolate In a good way, so I added some sea salt to the top. I love that they aren’t overly sweet. I’m 2 for 2 on amazing AK gluten free desserts. Thanks Monique!

Wow. These brownies are killer. I had limited tahini so I did half tahini half natural peanut butter. I also subbed brown sugar for the coconut sugar, and whole wheat flour for the coconut flour (didn’t have them on hand). Cooked in an 8×8.5 pan for 32min. I just made this! All I had was a tiny bit of tahini and the rest was tahina. Wow these are so good! Maybe a tad sweet so I’ll reduce the sugar next time. These are really incredible!

WOAH THESE ARE GOOD! I typically put a healthy twist on my desserts but don’t want my family or friends to try because they will say “ew, just eat the normal version”. I already know their reaction to these will be, “yum!!!!!” These don’t taste “too healthy” and the consistency is a perfectly fudgy while holding together nicely.
Note: I swapped the coconut sugar and maple syrup for 1/2 cup erythritol and a splash of almond milk to make up for the decreased liquid. Worked well!!

Just made these tonight and gosh SO GOOD!! I didn’t have coconut flour so ground up some oats instead for oat flour. I also used closer to 1/3 cup of coconut sugar rather than the full 1/2. They’re perfectly sweet to me, and oh so decadent! The tahini gives it a deep luscious flavor but it’s not dense like fudge. Highly recommend and very easy to make! Mine took 24/25 minutes to bake. Side note: would recommend sifting the cocoa powder to avoid little powder balls.

This recipe was easy to follow and worked out perfectly (not too thick, not too sticky)! I took the brownies out after the minimum (22 minutes), and they were perfect. My only reserve was that I tasted too much of the tahini – when I make these again, I will probably experiment with substituting half of the tahini for another, more neutral tasting oil. I still liked the nutty texture, but I think it would be better if more subtle! Nevertheless, I was impressed by how rich and fudgy these were despite having no flour in them!

For a GF and non-refined sugar brownie, these are lovely. The tahini imparts a nice earthy flavor, and I too found them best straight from the fridge. The fridge also allows the drizzle to set, if you opt for that step (recommend). TIP: sprinkle with a little Maldon sea salt after drizzling, then put in fridge. They seemed a little cake-y straight out of the oven but settled and seemed more dense the more they sat and especially after being in the fridge. Thanks for a great recipe!

Hi, I’m new to your site and have already bookmarked a few recipes. This is the first one I made today. They turned out very, very well. A word of caution, though: I cut down on the sugar a bit because often I find sweets too sweet. I shouldn’t have. I think that your measurements would be bang on as mine just needed a bit more sugar. I made this recipe twice but i wanted to make it keto friendly so i substituted coconut sugar with monk fruit sweetener and maple syrup with monk fruit syrup. Both time it came out dry, can you advise me what to do to make it more fudgy? Should i omit the coconut flour maybe?
Monk fruit may have changed it, or perhaps you baked them for too long. Another idea is to try leaving out the coconut flour 🙂
I just had to comment and say that I made these with flax eggs (2 Tbsp ground flax with 5 Tbsp water) and they are delicious. I’ve made them both ways for several groups of people and they always prefer the flax egg version! Isn’t that crazy? Anyway, just thought I’d share since I know I’ve looked in comments before for tips and substitutions! Thanks for a yummy crowd-please. .

They don’t taste like tahini but it gives them a different depth of flavor (my husband said it was almost like a peanut butter taste). Delicious! I swapped the chocolate chips for chopped walnuts (personal preference) and they were perfect.

I love tahini! Particularly black deep roasted. I found tahini after practicing ayurveda, which extolls virtues of sesame oil (usually unheated) almost as much as ghee. Sesame is neat in its lecithin content.. so it is good for infusions. I am going to try this recipe modification using tahini in place of oil(with a little ganja also). I only wish I had cacao, which is distinct from cocoa as it hasn’t been alkalized (aka Dutch processed)…. Oh well, you win some you lose some.

Hi! I don’t bake with alternative sweeteners like monk fruit so I’m not sure how it would turn out. I do know that monk fruit is much sweeter than coconut sugar so you may have to use less.
The only modification I made was using an egg replacer. These are divine! And I agree that they are just a delicious straight out of the fridge.

I love these! I used a flax egg instead of an actual one since i didn’t have any, and for the drizzle, i melted chocolate chips with this hazelnut caramel I happened to have, and it was great. My one fault is I overfilled the 1 cup of tahini, so it’s really strong, but still delicious!

OMG!! These are the best brownies of all time. I love how simple the recipe is and they are done cooking so fast compared to some other brownie recipes. I added walnuts to the top of mine. I’m in heaven. They are dangerously good.

My family and I loved these brownies! They’re made with amazing ingredients, and most of the things I already had on hand. Mine turned out more cakey that the photos above. I don’t think I cooked them too long (26 mins) but wonder if it’s something else that I did to cause this. Any ideas?? I really want to make these again but want them to be more fudgy. Thanks!
If you use brown sugar, you’ll have a fudgier brownie. Also using a cacao powder really helps!
These are awesome! Didn’t have coconut flour, so i eliminated the maple syrup, added a little more brown sugar, and used 3 tb almond flour.

Oh. My. Word. I agree – these are the best brownies I’ve ever had! I made two substitutions. I used flax eggs (2 tbsp ground flax + 5 tbsp water), and carob powder instead of cocoa powder. Cacao is too stimulating for me past noon – but carob powder worked brilliantly here!! Seriously, seriously, seriously…make these!!!!!

I wouldn’t recommend eliminating all carbs/sugars in these – sorry! The maple syrup gives them the perfect amount of sweetness.
Although I was skeptical making these brownies; I remembered we do have a habit of loving Monique’s recipes! I have promised my three kids never to make something I’m not willing to try myself. So, I sampled first while they were distracted by T.V. Two large brownies later, I somehow restrained myself to dish up some for them to try. They scarfed them down as fast as I did with a glass of milk! Don’t know if I’m more puzzled by the fluffy texture with only 1 tbsp coconut flour (my first time ever to use coconut flour) or how scrumptious they are with tahini in them! I would call them Magic Brownies! Thanks for making our first day of December 2020 (a tough year) brighter!

I love these brownies and have made them a couple of times. The second time I added a tsp of leftover orange zest that I happened to have from another recipe and have to say that made them even more amazing. So good!!

So, I don’t really love tahini, but I have a bottle sitting in my fridge from the last time I made hummus. To say I was skeptical was an understatement. How could these be the BEST brownies?? But really the taste was on point — fudgy, chocolate-y, crispy on the sides.. Not a ton of crackle on top, but that’s ok! Loved all the proportions. Husband approved too!
Super yummy. Didn’t have coconut sugar so substituted brown sugar. Used 1 T regular flour instead of coconut. Mine were plenty done at 20 min when I took them out, so I would take them out at 15-18 min next time so that they are gooey (they are more cake-like).

I have tried several of your recipes, and they are all great, especially the chocolate beet muffins! We typically have Tahini with honey in the house all the time, do you think if I used this, I should skip the sugar or maple syrup? I live in Greece so I can pick up plain tahini, however I thought I would give this a try too.
I’m not sure how many grams of sugar your tahini has with the honey in it so it’s hard to say for sure how much you’d need to reduce the other sweeteners by! Perhaps try a little less sugar.
These are lovely! So quick to make and delicious! Next time I will try a little less sugar/maple syrup because I don’t think they need as much.

YUM, these are SO GOOD! I licked the bowl with the batter before baking and I was a little worried because it had a very strong tahini taste (and I love tahini) but once they bake you can’t even tell there’s tahini. Best brownies ever. Consistency is the same as “typical” brownies. My family usually doesn’t like my healthy version of things and don’t eat a lot of my healthy recipies. However, the kids loved these brownies and my husband wanted seconds! I had to hide them so I could eat them. Trust me, that says a lot!!! Very, very good!!
Wowowowow. Amazing. I subbed all purpose flour and cane sugar because I didn’t have coconut flour or coconut sugar. Otherwise I followed the recipe exactly. These are my new favorite brownies! The tahini is neutral and doesn’t overpower the chocolate, which was my main concern initially.

The best “healthier” brownie recipe! The tahini makes these so rich and moist and adds a slight nuttiness to them. They have become my go-to recipe when I want something quick and easy yet decadent. I personally have swapped the coconut sugar for cane sugar, and they’ve come out perfect every time. Highly recommend trying these out!

Had to make some substitutions – brown sugar instead of coconut sugar, almond flour instead of coconut flour. Also realized last minute I didn’t have cocoa powder so had to use hot chocolate mix instead (just decreased the brown sugar a bit to compensate. They had a rich nutty flavor, but with the chocolate drizzle the tahini wasn’t overpowering at all. Perfectly fluffy and a bit cake like, which I love. So yummy!

These are amazing! I read the reviews and decided to try them. Wow! The next time I make them I will bake about 2 min longer. I was afraid of over-baking and didn’t want them to be cakey brownies so erred on the side of under-baking. They were still delicious though.

By far the BEST brownies I have ever made. SO easy to use and so delicious. No need to think about storing/freezing as they will not last! I only have an 8×8 pan and started with 25 minutes in the oven, checking every 4-5 minutes to prevent over baking. From my husband who claims he “doesn’t like sweets” often asks “do we have any more brownies?” Need I say more?!

I didn’t have coconut sugar so I used brown sugar and halved it. I also ran out of tahini, so did about 1/3 cup tahini with the remained being almond butter. I also added some walnuts for some crunch. Wowza! Amazing brownies! Will definitely make again and hopefully I’ll have more tahini around!

While these brownies are tasty, the tahini gives them a nutty, almost coffee like flavor. I was looking for something more pure chocolate to replace the recipe I grew up with that has shortening and white sugar.

Delicious!!! When room temp the tahini taste is strongest (for whatever reason) which truly, I did not mind. But for those I shared them with they loved them warmed up in the microwave or cold out of the fridge best which seemed to dull the tahini taste. I tried them at all 3 temperatures and loved them each Way!! Absolutely will be making these again and again!!

Wanted a grain-free dessert recipe for a Passover celebration with friends and these brownies did not disappoint! Because I live in high-elevation Colorado (5400 feet), I made a few adjustments, based on this website’s recommendations (https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/learn/resources/high-altitude-baking) ! 1) increased oven temp to 375 degrees C, decreased coconut sugar by 1/2 tbsp, added an extra tablespoons of maple syrup, and baked for only 18 minutes, Result was a huge hit!

This is my husband’s favorite brownies made from scratch. bake it for 22 mins and you get that beautiful moist brownies! I like it a little less sweet so sometimes I put only 1/4 cup of coconut sugar but it’s still amazing!!!

SO GOOD! I ran out of tahini, so I used 1/2 c tahini & 1/2 c peanut butter. I also didn’t have any coconut flour, so I just used a tablespoon of whole wheat flour, which seems to have worked fine. Yes, I probably over baked them, but i did bake them within the window recommended. They were dry and my daughter referred to them as, “cake-like”.
Otherwise my recipe was identical as listed. They were rescued with some melty ice cream and my daughter liked them cold.
I like the consistency of baked tahini and drier foods in general so I thought they were fine to eat but not a brownie.
I’m not sure I’d make them again even if I went for under baked.
So many bakeries we’ve visited have their own version of tahini brownies. I’ve had good to boring. The bummer is that they tend to use gf flour in addition to tahini and these are typically rice flour based. I know that’s easy for gf baking but negates trying to make the treat any healthier than a regular brownie.
I’ll keep looking and sampling….
Sorry to hear that they were a bit dry! Can I ask what brand of tahini you used? That could’ve contributed as well as if your oven runs a bit hot. I’d suggest undertaking them by a bit next time if you try them again, and they’ll get even more fudgy the next day!

HOLY GRAILNESS. i’ve never baked using tahini and the thought of making brownies without any flour seemed, well, like a betrayal. I’m glad I am a traitor b/c I got myself a jar of Trader Joe’s tahini and made this and it’s the best dang browies I’ve ever made. I used the whole 10.6 oz jar of tahini (b/c even when I scraped it all out it barely cleared my 1 cup measuring cup), packed brown sugar instead of coconut sugar, left out coconut flour (I didn’t have any + purpose is to soak up moisture and I didn’t want that), baked in parchment lined 9×9 with baking sheet under it, for 20.5 minutes. it came out chewy along the edges, gooey in the center, crackled surface. my one beef with this recipe is that Monique said it would yield 16 brownies but that’s only if I don’t have portion control issues and cut em into teeny pieces! NO! 😀 mine yielded 9 squares and they are already gone and I’m getting complaints from my family that I only baked 1 batch. seriously, this will now be my go-to brownie recipe. thank you so much for all your genius recipes!!!

WOW! I made these and they are delightful. I forgot to buy eggs (oops), so ended up making them with flax eggs and thus accidentally vegan (used vegan choc chips as well), and they still came out delicious. I baked them in muffin cups over a pan, so less time in the oven. I store them in the fridge and reheat them in the air fryer for just a couple of minutes. My go-to fudgie brownies used to be zucchini-based, but this may become a new staple!

I think you could use almond flour since it’s such a small amount, but try doing 2 tbsp. instead of 1 since almond flour absorbs moisture less than coconut flour 🙂
I made and so delicious but it’s like more cake than brownie.. do you know what could have happened?
Hi, there! I recommend underbaking these so they stay really fudgy. It’s possible yours were baked a little too long!

I modified the recipe a little, I only had 2/3 cup of tahini and the rest I used almond butter, and I added chopped frozen raspberries on top😋

I was hesitant to try this recipe at first as I have always been a box brownie kind of girl, but I wanted a healthier alternative. Needless to say, these are the only brownies I make now! You would never know they don’t have flour because the are SO soft and chewy! I halved the recipe the last time I made them because I didn’t have enough tahini, so they were thin but I actually really enjoyed them that way.

I made the fudge flourless almond butter brownies. They taste great but the middle did not cook. I left them in for 20 min. Only the edges were cooked. I did use butter as I diden’t have almond butter. Is that the culprit?

Hi, Jan! I would definitely not recommend subbing regular butter for tahini (or almond butter) in here as they have very different textures.

Yes, Tahini is a must have product. I just happened to find the last 3 of the one I LOVE, so I grabbed them quickly and ran out 🏃🏻♀️ (I paid of course)😄

these brownies are so good! i eat a paleo diet for medical reasons and I don’t feel deprived at all eating these – they’re honestly just as good (if not better than) any “regular” brownies out there
These are yummy. I substituted coconut sugar with agave, since that’s what I had on-hand and that worked well. A cup of tahini is quite high in calories, but I love that all the ingredients are paleo.

Hi, Chris! Great question. Since the batter will be a little thicker, it may take slightly longer to bake. You can keep the temp the same but be sure to test the brownies to make sure they’re done, and keep them in the oven longer if needed!

These were delicious! I followed the recipe exactly and they turned out great. Will definitely make again!
I didn’t actually try these brownies because I made them for a friend to enjoy, but I have to leave feedback because the feedback was they were delicious! I didn’t have regular tahini on hand, only black tahini & no coconut flour, so after a little research I added 3 tbs ground almonds instead. Concerned they might be a little dry, I added a splash of almond milk to the final mixture. The only other modification was I didn’t have choc chips, so I broke up dark chocolate into little chunks. I made a chocolate drizzle using cocoa powder & maple syrup instead of the choc chips & sprinkled some freeze dried raspberries on top as a special touch. I look forward to making these for myself and will use black tahini again but maybe toss through some rspberries next time

I’ve made these multiple times and they’re SO Fudgy, and easy.
Well I can’t leave well enough alone, and added some instant coffee to a batch, which I do to all my boxes brownies. At first, it was a horrid mistake- the batter got bitter and Smokey tasting, because it was “too much” with the tahini, but I couldn’t bring myself to toss it, so I added a bit of powdered sugar and salt and baked anyway. They still weren’t great.
Then I had an idea- I had some frosting in the freezer. I put the cooled brownie in my food processor (could have just done the mixer if it didn’t have choc. Chips) and added the thawed frosting (and a bit more powdered sugar and salt). Then I rolled the mix, sprinkled a tiny bit more salt (salt helps with bitterness) and dipped them in powdered sugar, sometimes more than once. I now have the most FABULOUS double chocolate GF espresso brownie balls. Basically a cake ball, but not.

So delicious !!!!! Also, I used an 8.5 by 8.5 pan instead, and they came out totally fine! Highly recommend spraying a spatula with non stick oil (I even spray it on my fingers) to help from the batter sticking! Would absolutely make these again, I want to try adding raspberries to them !

These look irresistible! We’re getting a big snowstorm overnight and tomorrow so I’m not sure when I can pick up coconut flour and eggs but asap for sure! I really love tahini. It tastes great and it’s gentle on my system. By the way, I saw that someone was asking about dairy free chocolate chips. I like Camino brand, bittersweet 71% cacao. They’re not too sweet, which is one of the reasons I prefer them.

I made these brownies today, and they’re soo delicious! I’ve already devoured 2 of them.:) Another reviewer mentioned that she’d used less sugar and maple syrup, and then realized that your quantities were just right. I’m glad I read that because I’m also in the habit of using less sugar than called for in recipes, but your amounts were perfect! I tested them for doneness at 22 minutes and they weren’t quite there, so I gave them another 5 minutes, but just 2 extra minutes would have nailed it. I stirred about 1/2 cup of chopped pecans into the mixture and sprinkled a few more on top before baking them. I ate one with a spoonful of coconut cream right out of the can and I ate the other one naked. (Blush!!) I meant the brownie! Lol. Either way, both brownies were yummy!

Dessert recipes that include tahini always catch my eye and I’ve tried many of them. This is the best recipe for tahini brownies that I’ve ever made. Thanks so much for sharing it! A question in the comments asked about using raw tahini. That’s what I did (my preference is Eastwind Organic Tahini which comes in a glass jar) and the brownies were fantastic. These brownies were a hit! My kids have requested them again and again! At first I was hesitant because I thought they would taste the tahini, but there were zero complaints! The texture is great, the taste is fudgy but not overly sweet!
Can I use just regular flour instead of coconut?
I haven’t personally tested it but it should work fine! Coconut flour is really absorbent so you may want to increase the amount to 1.5 tbsp. for all purpose flour 🙂

Hmm I wanted to love these but just didn’t. I skipped the glaze on the top and maybe that was my mistake. My sister described them as tasting like they had been left out next to a bbq – kinda savory/faintly smoky. I think they would’ve been fine with the glaze or with ice cream or something. If you don’t like a strong tahini taste, you might go for another one of the brownie recipes on the site.
Hi, Kenzie! Sounds like the brand of tahini you used caused that flavor; some can be really smoky/bitter in flavor — not my favorite, either! I’d recommend Soom Foods tahini or the Trader Joe’s brand!

The texture was good, but the flavor tasted mainly like the tahini. Perhaps 1 cup of tahini was too much.

These brownies blew me away! They were so moist and just a little adhesive to fingers,etc.
I didn’t connect the zucchini with the moistness, but then I remembered back to zucchini bread.
I had only thought of tahini in Indian cuzine. The tahini adds moisture and texture., the coconut sugar and coconut flour add more unique flavor buds to the senses the most unique brownie batter I have ever

I did not share the first batch I made, in face I haven’t shared any, this is about the 5th time I made these. They express chocolate in a multitude of senses. Quite a rush! Consume slowly and with some liquid. This batch to going to go to the staff where I volunteer.
My stomach eventually retaliated; now, brownies in moderation.
I wish many people get to experience these unique brownies.

TRULY AMAZING BROWNIES! like seriously, my go to brownie recipe now. I used Trader Joe’s tahini and used brown sugar instead of coconut sugar. I also prefer to use 100% cacao powder (so many health benefits) & Hu chocolate chips – I felt like these were the healthiest or most nutritious brownies and the TASTIEST. I’ve made them twice in 10 days cause i don’t feel like crap after eating one yet they’re so satisfying, I only eat one. The chocolate drizzle was the cherry on top and they’re AMAZING right out of the fridge. Monique, I have truly loved all of your recipes but HOLY COW, this one is my TOP favorite!

I love these brownies. They were easy to make and are delicious cold or warm.
Not my favorite. Tahini you can definitely taste— which in brownies now I know my favorite. And not very sweet either. If you are on a tight budget using that much tahini isn’t budget friendly either. Now the positives— the recipe turned out perfectly, great texture. Just not my thing but if you love tahini, and not too sweet brownies the recipe is perfect.

Great recipe! I added some flakey salt on top of my drizzle. Used milk chocolate chips for inside the brownies and semi sweet for the drizzle. Might add some white chocolate drizzle next time too.

Hey Monique. Do you have any idea how long in advance the batter can sit before baking? I was thinking of making these for desert for a dinner party and thought it would be ideal to serve them warm with some ice cream but would love to be able to do as much prep ahead of time as possible. Do you think it would work to prepare the batter 1-2 hours ahead of time, store it in the fridge, and then pop them in the oven so they’re ready just before desert? Or do you think something funky will happen if they sit too long before baking?
Hi, Megan! Sorry for the delay. I wouldn’t recommend letting the batter sit because the baking soda might lose its power after that long, but you could definitely mix the wet ingredients (tahini, coconut sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract and eggs) + dry ingredients (cocoa powder, coconut flour, salt and baking soda) separately and then stir them together and fold in the chocolate chips just before baking!
These brownies are truly delicious. The batter is quick and easy, and they bake for less than twenty minutes. You can easily have brownies within the hour!
These were by far the best grain free brownies I have made. No one would know they were grain free. I didn’t make any modifications. I took them to a get together and they were loved there as well. I will be making them again and again! Thank you!

We used 2 heaping tablespoons of bread flour instead of the coconut flour (it’s all we had!) and have now made this recipe 4x the exact same way because they came out so perfectly. In love, obsessed, my Only brownie recipe from here until forever! People who love tahini will appreciate the subtle flavor and people who don’t know what tahini is won’t even know it’s there. They are magical.

This is HANDS DOWN the best brownie recipe. So easy to make and incredibly delicious. I like to add a dash of cinnamon. It might be my oven, but I bake for 35 mins at 350 and these come out perfect -gooey inside with a crisp top. I topped my last batch off with Trader Joe’s peanut butter granola in the last few minutes of baking, and oh boy – absolutely killer. My boyfriend was picking up the crumbs off his plate.

These are truly wonderful brownies!! I have made them several times and everyone is always obsessed with them! They are shocked to hear there’s no refined sugar or conventional flour in them (except the chocolate chips I use hehe).
One thing I noticed this time I made them is I definitely prefer them with cocoa powder vs cacao powder – the cocoa powder adds a nice sweetness while with the cacao powder they are still wonderful just a little less sweet. They turned out cakier this time too so not sure if it was the cacao powder or more likely the different brand of tahini that I used. Regardless they were still absolutely delicious and a huge hit with family!

I live in Canada so an organic tahini in a jar. It was really good but very cake like. Maybe a more liquid tahini – same type of tahini we use for hummus perhaps?
Yep you should definitely use the drippy kind of tahini that you’d use in hummus! And these brownies are best if you underbake them a bit so that they stay fudgy and gooey 🙂

i have never made tahini brownies before but these just felt like they were brownies that were trying to be healthy, the tahini was a bit too overpowering. i think that because the batter is so thick they also come out very dense, and i personally do not like this, i prefer when they are soft. I am not sure if there is something I can do for it to turn out less dense, if you have any ideas?
Just made grain free GF brownies, so easy to make and taste awesome.

I make these weekly! I am not dairy or GF but I just love these so much, and so does everyone who eats them. I always leave them in for only 18-19 minutes. I did 22 once amd they were way overcooked and not the same at all.
Wow. I’m kind of shocked show good these are considering they have relatively healthy ingredients! I couldn’t stop eating them! Sprinkled Maldon salt fresh out of the oven for a salty-sweet touch. I love the tahini that adds the slightly sesame seed taste that surprisingly makes the brownie even more addictive. The texture is amazing and the chocolate with the tahini are such complex flavors together. I saw the photo of these and immediately my mouth started watering. Thankfully for my 2nd trimester pregnant self I had all the ingredients on hand and was able to make them. 10/10! The tahini adds a very subtle but welcome nutty flavor. The brownies are so moist and chewy. I used too much coconut oil in the drizzle so it was extra liquidy, but putting them in the fridge helped firm it up. These will be gone soon! #AKRecipeoftheMonth

These came out beautifully! My daughter said “they are very tahini-y” and ate 3! I used 2 tbs banana flour because we have a coconut allergy in the house, brown sugar, and baked for 24 minutes. They were moist and gooey inside, crisp on the outside – perfect brownies. Also dusted 1/2 with coarse sea salt on top. That 1/2 disappeared first. I’ll definitely make them again.

Hands down the best brownie recipe. I’ve made it with coconut sugar more often because I’m trying to limit my refined sugar but the brown sugar definitely takes it to another level! My brownies come out exactly like the picture. They are not only incredibly delicious but also beautiful!

I made these last weekend for a friend’s party and they were an absolute hit! It was fun to see everyone’s faces when they heard the brownies were made with tahini – such an unexpected but delicious combination! And the chocolate chips were a great addition too. The only downside was that they came out a little cakey, but probably my fault for overcooking them. I’ll have to try again!

I had these in the oven for over 40 minutes at 350 and they never baked properly. They were so gooey and still the consistency of batter.
I made these last night, was a little short on tahini and cocoa powder and they still turned out great! They are very soft and chocolaty, absolutely delicious!

I have made this recipe a few times in the past and have always loved them! My husband and I celebrated Valentines day today, and I asked him to make these for me, and once again they turned out amazing! So fudgey and delicious! I can’t belief there is no flour in the recipe other than the 1 TBS of almond flour. We ended up baking ours for 25 mins and the texture was perfect! Thank you for the recipe.

WOAH! just made these & I can honestly say they are the best grain free/ dairy free/ refined sugar free brownies I have ever made!! I didn’t have a cup of tahini in my fridge so I used a drippy almond butter for the rest. Otherwise, I kept the recipe identical and added walnuts. This will be a staple in my house & will bring them to many parties. SO FUDGY!! 🙂

Made these when we had friends over for dinner since it was the #AKrecipeofthemonth and they were a hit. Everyone was surprised when I told them the ingredients and that it was gluten free. They all stated that they never would have guessed that. We had them with ice cream and will definitely keep this recipe for future use.

Like me, you might doubt making these bc it uses 1 cup of tahini. Tahini can be the pricier nut butter of all but butters depending on the brand you like and where you get it from. I’m here to tell you do it. Trust. It’s totally worth it. Also they are dangerously light so you may or may not eat an entire batch in one day.

I used Trader Joe’s Tahini, Theo 55% chocolate (chunked), and Nielsen-Massey Organic Madagascar Vanilla. Quality ingredients, always! I believe every freezer should contain a batch … yes, you can eat them frozen!

I had some tahini that I needed to use up and wow was I blown away by this recipe! Super easy to put together. I had to use a 8×8 pan so I thought it would take a bit longer to cook but it took 23 min. I ran out of semi sweet chocolate chips when it came time to do the glaze and thought about using white chocolate chips but used dark chocolate chips instead. I bet white chocolate chips would be good to fold into the brownies to cut the richness a little. I might use less sugar next time to see if I can make them healthier (I used brown sugar).

I’ve had some tahini in our pantry that I needed to use (since I haven’t been making hummus lately). This recipe sounded intriguing and I figured I’d give it a shot. So glad I did! I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious these brownies were, and they’re almost even better/fudgier the next day. This is a great recipe! Turned out perfect for me. I followed as is, I had tahini open in my fridge and just left it out at room temp for ~30 min-1 hr prior to baking the recipe so it would be nice and smooth. I added crushed mini eggs to the top of mine at the end, because Easter! Fabulous recipe. Will make again.

I used brown sugar but otherwise followed the recipe. I topped the chocolate with a flakey sea salt and omg. Sooooo good! I don’t think I’ve ever gotten so many compliments on a brownie- and a GF one at that!!

Great healthier brownies. The tahini taste is noticeable but it didn’t bother me, especially with the melty chocolate covering it up nicely. I added some leftover pumpkin seed chocolate bark in this, walnuts, and the chocolate chips. Baked for 20 and had to resist the urge to put it in for longer. 20 or a little less is actually perfect. Thankful I didn’t overbake!

My favorite brownie recipe. I always do flax egg and it works! I accidentally used cashew butter (I have the same brand cashew butter and tahini and they happen to be the same color so I accidentally used the wrong one) and I loved the texture it created so since then I do half tahini, half cashew butter.

These were delicious! Will definitely add more chocolate chips and toasted walnuts next time. Maybe a swirl of tahini on top for some extra tahini flavor – surprisingly that was very subdued in the final product.

I made these for the first time today and I absolutely LOVE them. My kids and husband loved them, I know I’ll be making them quite frequently. I have never used Tahini before, I was really freaking out about how difficult it was to stir it, I had a 16 ounce container and used my blender as a last ditch attempt to mix my tahini, so I doubled the recipe to ensure I wouldn’t have to wrestle with that hard paste again. Since it was doubled I had to increase the bake time, or maybe it’s just my oven. I also used half brown sugar per your notes and half coconut sugar to keep the sugar levels low for my family. I love these, They’re absolutely perfect.

AMAZING! My husband wanted brownies for his birthday so naturally I came to Ambitious Kitchen to find a recipe. These brownies were so delicious and super easy to make! I wanted crackly tops so I used a hand mixer to beat the eggs and coconut sugar really well. I don’t do well with coconut flour so I used half coconut flour and half oat flour. Baked them for 28 min and they were perfect! Served with non dairy vanilla ice cream. Of course I ate one by itself for quality control 🙂 Gave a few away to coworkers and they devoured them. They had no idea they were gluten free and refined sugar free.

These are the best brownies ever! My husband’s birthday was Christmas Eve and he wanted brownies so I went looking for a gluten free version without using gf flour so I came here to Ambitious Kitchen because I knew anything I chose would not disappoint. He said these are now his favorite! I shared some with coworkers who said the same thing. Now it’s a week later and I’ve made them again! Super easy to make with ingredients I always have on hand. I top with Hu choc chips and Maldon salt for a little glaze. If I’m feeling really adventurous I serve with non dairy vanilla ice cream. Thank you for an incredible brownie recipe!

Hi! Because the maple syrup adds a bit of liquid, I’d recommend keeping it in the recipe. I’ve never tried baking on the stove!
We’ve probably made these a dozen time and they’re consistently my husband’s and my favorite brownies. So chewy and perfectly moist with a little nuttiness from the tahini but not overpowering. So easy too! Will never make a boxed brownie again.

Yum! At first I thought I underbaked them but the next morning they were the best texture. (I did convection 22 minutes.) Amazing with a cup of espresso and I don’t even feel that bad eating one of these as my breakfast. 😆
Underbaking is key as they’ll “set” more as they sit! Perfect breakfast in my opinion 😉
I baked for 20 minutes and the taste is delicious. My 8 year old kindly told me that “I did a really good job but they’re a little dry”….so recommendation would be to cook for shorter duration.
I always recommend underbaking cookies and brownies because they’ll continue to set up as they cool! That should help 🙂
Made these tonight. Used brown sugar but otherwise followed recipe. They are AMAZING! My daughter says she likes them better than “regular” brownies.

Sorry to hear that! These should be super fudgy – I always recommend to slightly underbake baked goods so that they stay moist. What brand of tahini did you use?
Used one flax egg and one regular egg to save on eggs. Also used almond flour since I didn’t have coconut flour. Very rich and chocolaty. I put a sprinkle of flaky salt on top. We loved them and will make again.

This is my go to brownie recipe. Everyone loves them! I have used cold chickpea water, flaxseed, and just egg as substitutes in this recipe. Just make sure to use 110gm of the substitute to equal 2 eggs. I love Pascha chocolate chips which are allergen free and vegan. I also make my own vanilla so I never run out of it.

These really are the very best brownies I have ever made. I love tahini so I was immediately intrigued. I used granulated maple sugar instead of the coconut sugar so my sweetener was all a form of maple syrup/sugar. I had some Soom vanilla bean tahini I had to use up so I halved the granulated maple sugar. Turned out perfectly – not too sweet – just right. Will definitely make again.

These really are amazing! I have made them as written and with adding some chopped nuts. Both versions are incredible and my family devours them. I also make mine in an 8×8 pan as we like them slightly thicker. Thank you for a great recipe!

I made these for the first night of Passover and they were fabulous! I topped the brownies with a simple coffee glaze, which really enhanced the chocolate flavor.
This brownie recipe had fewer carbs than a typical brownie – a bonus😎
Normally I’m great with portion control – last night I had to firmly resist having a third brownie!

Bland bland bland without the chocolate chips. Since I was out, I added banana on the top with some brown sugar to caramelise and a sprinkle of nuts/seeds thank goodness I did. These would have been so flavourless else.

Sorry to hear that! These aren’t meant to be overly sweet, but should taste perfectly sweet with the addition of both coconut sugar and maple syrup.
These brownies were delicious and so moist! I made flax eggs in place of eggs (2tbsp flax and 4tbsp water total) and used chickpea flour for my flour in this recipe. I only had about 3/4 cup of tahini, so I used about 1/8 cup of melted coconut oil, and 1/8 cup of maple syrup to compensate for the missing 1/4 cup. I reduced the coconut sugar to a heaping 1/4 cup, and it was the perfect sweetness for me! I only had a 9×7.5″ pan, so mine had to cook for about 35 minutes. These brownies were so gooey and delicious, my whole family loves them! I will definitely be making these again!

Hi! Loveeeee this recipe! I’ve been using oat flour and it gives it more of a cake texture. I’m wondering if the texture will change if I use coconut flour. Will it be more chewy/ brownie like?

I was skeptical at first to be honest because I’m not a tahini fan unless it’s hummus, but wooooweeee after trying these… I stand corrected. They were fudgey, chewy, salty, amazingly perfect. Pair with some ice cream and you’re bound to make someone fall in love with you.

These are very good. I used almond flour instead of coconut flour. I also did not do the drizzle toping so they would be better for taking with me on the go. I was concerned they would be too sweet with both coconut sugar and maple syrup but they are not. And, the even rose when baking which surprised me with the small amount of baking soda. They have a very slight tahini taste which is ok by me.
Once I started eating grain free, I wasted a lot of money/ingredients on bad recipes that did not work.. It’s nice to find one that works and is good!
I used small 4.5 inch round silicone pans and split the recipe into 4 pans. Cooking time for me was 16 minutes.
