A few years ago I fell in love with peaches. Not that they weren’t good all those years before, but it wasn’t until after having some sort of peach pie or crisp that I really committed to loving them like I’ve never loved a fruit before.
Except maybe Honeycrisp apples; those sweet crunchy things lure me in every time (even if they’re $4.99/pound). I know… shame on me.
Today’s peach fruit salad is one that I make every time I entertain during the summer months; it’s the perfect side dish to accompany grilled chicken, salmon or veggie kabobs.
Another reason I dig this peach fruit salad? Because it’s a wonderful way to get kids to really dig into some fresh, nutritious fruit. The best part of this recipe though is that it’s completely customizable, so if you feel like adding other berries or fruit, you can! Sometimes I use yellow nectarines but usually, I opt for sweet, ripe fresh yellow peaches because of their unique sweetness and texture.
Summer fruit salad ingredients
Before I save the above photo as the screensaver on my phone, let’s talk about what ingredients you’ll need to make this easy summer peach fruit salad. Head to the farmer’s market (or your own garden!) and grab:
- Fresh yellow peaches
- Blackberries
- Blueberries
- A pomegranate
- Fresh basil leaves
- Lime juice
- Honey
This fresh, summer produce is then drizzled with a bit of honey and a squeeze of lime juice for a sweet and tangy finish to the delicious fruit. I love how the basil brings a fresh earthiness and makes the fruit salad a bit different from what we’re used to.
What to serve with this peach fruit salad
This gorgeous summer fruit salad is best served with other delicious summer recipes. Here are some of my favorites:
- Add it to the perfect, juicy grilled chicken
- Serve it on the side of a flavorful burger (or vegan burger!)
- It’s delicious with grilled or baked salmon
- Everyone will love this with my slow cooker pulled chicken sandwiches
- Simple sweet & spice grilled chicken is the perfect complement
Customize this summer peach fruit salad
Feel free to make this fruit salad your own!
- Go vegan. Keep it vegan by omitting the honey or use a bit of maple syrup.
- Add more summer fruits. Feel free to add strawberries, raspberries, nectarine or fresh cherries!
- Choose your herbs. Swap the basil for fresh mint.
- Add a kick of heat. Get a little wild with a sprinkle of chili powder or cayenne pepper.
- Make a meal. Add some feta or goat cheese crumbles, creamy avocado and your favorite greens like arugula or spinach to make a light lunch salad!
What fruit is best for fruit salad?
I have found that fruit salad is best with firm berries and other fruit that doesn’t easily break down or get mushy so if you want to prep the salad a few hours ahead of time, you totally can. I suggest avoiding raspberries, watermelon and bananas, as they can easily get soggy. Make sure that when you add peaches they aren’t overly ripe and still have some firmness to them!
How to store this peach fruit salad
This peach fruit salad will stay good for about 2-4 days in the refrigerator in airtight containers. The acid from the lime juice will also help prevent the peaches from browning and will keep the rest of the fruit tasting nice and fresh. It’s great to toss in quinoa, on top of spinach, or on top of a bowl of yogurt in the morning.
Make it ahead of time
If you want to make this peach fruit salad ahead of time, feel free to add everything to a bowl 1 day before you’re ready to serve it. I would recommend adding the basil ribbons last so that they keep their pretty green color when tossed with the salad.
I mean, come on… don’t you want to just dive in?
Don’t lie to me.

This has summer written all over it!
Summer in a bowl!
Can you use frozen pomegranate
Seeds?
That’s a good question Pat. I can’t find pomegranate seeds in my area except around the holidays. Not available during the summer season.
Yes, you can just thaw them out in water before using.
This salad is delicious. Perfect for a hot summer day. I left out the pomegranate seeds because my grocery store didn’t have them and it was still great. I put the leftovers on top of peach yogurt for a super yummy breakfast.
Absolutely! And that breakfast sounds amazing.
I made this for a BBQ/pool party and it was a hit! This is so simple yet so delicious. My only regret is not doubling the recipe because it was gone as soon as I set it out. The basil just makes it! This will be on heavy rotation this summer!
Oh yay!! So happy to hear that you guys loved it. Totally agree, basil’s my fav too 🙂 Can’t wait for you to make it again!
I didn’t make this, but my cousin did over the 4th of July and WOW- so delicious, flavorful, and refreshing!
Aw thanks for leaving a review! So glad to hear you loved it 🙂
This fruit salad in not only very tasty but so beautiful! Great to take to a BBQ!
This looks amazing! Making this for the holiday weekend.
This looks, like,a lovely fresh fruit salad. But where I live and maybe in most parts of the country. Peaches and pomegranates are very different seasonal fruits so it would be hard for me to make fresh.
Feel free to omit the pomegranates if they’re not available near you!
It’s a fantastic salad. For a hot summer day, ideal. Because my grocery shop didn’t have pomegranate seeds, I omitted them, and the dish was still delicious. For a really delicious breakfast, I topped the leftovers with peach yogurt.
Perfect! Love the idea of eating it with yogurt 🙂
This dish looks incredibly delicious and refreshing with all the fresh fruit! Perfect for summer.
Yes, it’s SO refreshing!! Hope you can try it 🙂
This salad is simple, summery and delicious. I added nectarines. The pomegranate seeds add color and texture but flavor would not be altered if eliminated. Definitely include the basil which offers a beautiful flavor contrast. I would not make more than 2 hours in advance as peaches begin to soften which changes look and texture. My guests loved this recipe! Definitely will make this again and again.
So glad you loved this one! Great for end of summer.
I am a person who loves to eat fruit. Especially peaches. It’s really sweet and its aroma makes me fall in love. This would be a great way for me to start a healthy meal with a fruit I love.
I haven’t been in the habit of keeping salads for a long time but with this new salad I’m going to give it a try, stay tuned for my feedback on the process!
Tried this and it was so refreshing! Thank you.
We really enjoyed this salad. Made with a blackberry glazed pork tenderloin. Nice and light for a hot summer day.
YUM! This sounds like the perfect summer meal, glad you’re enjoying it!
I like to share this great information with my friends, and I hope they enjoy it as much as I do.
Cant wait to make this soon for me i never had honey lime basil peach fruit salad before perfect for my after office snacks love your recipes as always brightens up my day everyday after work
I absolutely love this fruit salad recipe. However, since pomegranates are hard to find during the summer where I’m located I use sliced cherries instead. It’s a family favorite! Thanks for sharing ❤️
Perfect! Great swap 🙂
This recipe minus the pomegranate seeds and with adjustments to the ratios is absolutely incredible. I always do two limes, a dollop of good honey, and way more fresh basil, adjust for taste. With more lime and honey, the fruit really macerates overnight in the fridge and leaves a beautiful syrup that you can drizzle on other things or mix with tonic water or toss in a vinaigrette.
I have no idea why pomegranate seeds are included in a summer fruit recipe; at least where I am in the northeast there are no pomegranates until fall/winter.
Love that! Glad you enjoyed 🙂
